Another Accident at Notorious Melksham Blackspot

On Satuday morning there was another car accident at the notorious blackspot on Bollands Hill, between Seend and the A365 to the east of Melksham.
A Citroen van carrying three people rolled down the embankment just after 11.30am. An ambulance was called and the paramedics said the passengers did not require hospital treatment.
Barry Poolman, who runs G&S Patios across the road, said to the Wiltshire Times: "It's only a matter of time before someone else gets killed there. They were so lucky someone coming up the other way. The car crossed the road. It's a blind spot, you're looking into the sky when you go over the bridge.
"People don't realise there's a bend after the corner and they're losing control and crashing straight across the road."
Last October Corsham youngster Chris Cowie, 24, died after loosing control of his car and crashing over the embankment towards G&S Patios. He was also travelling down the hill from Seend.
The accident blackspot will be discussed at a Community Area Transport Committee meeting at Melksham Town Hall on Monday.
Jonathon Seed, councillor for Summerham and Seend, said: "There would have to be a significant history of accidents before the council would spend a large amount of money on the bridge. It will be considered on Monday.
"In my opinion we need to come up with an engineering solution to reduce the risk of accidents on that bridge, and we need one before someone else gets killed."
