Melksham's infamous swingers club Angels will be temporarily allowed to keep trading by Melksham Town
Council.
The club opened in October at Avon Enterprise Park, and operates on Friday and Saturday nights as a private members club.
Clever co-owner Steve Rumens, of Melksham, has submitted a retrospective
application to change the use of the club to 'sui generis', a Latin phrase meaning
'of its own kind', as Wiltshire Council had received complaints that the designated use of the unit at Avon did not fit as a business or industry.
Melksham Town Planning Committee chairman Cllr Vic Oakman said ot the Wiltshire Times: "We passed it with no
objection on planning grounds. We've had no objections from any of the
businesses down there, either written or verbal.
"The unit was empty for two years before they moved in, and it puts it to use. Whether it's a use people would want it to be, I don't know – we can
only look at it on planning grounds, not on moral grounds."
Melksham police have not had any complaints about bad behaviour or noise from the club.
Lisa Henderson, who runs fitness dance club Pole-Da-Cise in Avonside
Enterprise Park, said: "Since it opened it hasn't had an effect on my
business. Their opening hours are not when my opening hours are and I haven't had any negative feedback from my members or the public."
A final decision from Wiltshire Council is expected by the end of March.
