CCTV for Melksham town centre

Melksham is to have its long-awaited town-centre CCTV.
At the area board meeting on Wednesday 14 December, the board approved
up to £10,000 of grant funding and the CCTV project plans will now move
forward.
Colin Goodhind, chairman of the Melksham Area Community Safety Group,
will manage the project and the contract will go out to tender.
Melksham town council has agreed to give £8,000 of funding to this
project which means that a two-camera system could soon be in place in
the town centre. If some financial contributions can be found from other
sources, this could rise to a three or four-camera system.
Chairman of Melksham area board Jonathon Seed said: "This is great news
for Melksham. This is a collaborative project which has received support from all parties on the
board and we are very pleased to take the lead in this matter."

I have to say this is a classic Melksham situation of right hand and left hand really not knowing what they are doing? What is the point of getting rid of the cameras already there thanks to the generosity of sponsors of the Christmas lights to replace them with something at over 10 times the cost?
Anybody help us out here?

ReportWhat fantastic news, when for about £500 the 8 camera system thats already in place at no cost to the Town could have uprated cameras, with, if required full Pan tilt zoom capabilities - a system which is alrerady totally legally compliant and much praised by the police.
For the money they are talking I can only assume these cameras will be mounted on the International Space station!?
