Fire Destroys Barn at Semington Farm

Farmer John Wiltshire, from 'Old Pig Farm', at Berryfield,  Semington, Melksham, is coming to terms with a suspected arson attack on one of his barns in the early hours of Friday morning.

Firecrews worked with farm workers to create a fire break in the silage to save as much as possible, but damage to the barn and the loss of 40 tonnes of straw and 70 silage bales is estimated at £10,000, according to the Wiltshire Times.

Sgt Dave Hobman of Melksham Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "It is a suspicious fire and we are treating it as such. I would appeal for anyone with any information to call Wiltshire Police on the new number 101."
