Richard Elmes, 50, appeared in front of magistrates at North West
Wiltshire Magistrates' Court accused of Trowbridge builder Adrian Cooksey's manslaughter, and
perverting the course of justice.
Mr Cooksey was found unconscious in Spa Road, Melksham, in
the early hours of March 8 2009 and in hospital.
Elmes is also charged with perverting
the course of justice and giving
misleading evidence at a previous trial.
Dressed in polo shirt and jeans, Elmes
spoke only to confirm his details. He was committed for a preliminary
hearing at Swindon Crown Court on October 14.
Mr Cooksey's three sons, Adam, Simon and Michael, attended the court.
