Wiltshire Council's financial plan hopes to keep council tax the same

for the third year running and invest an extra £14.6m into protecting

the county's most vulnerable residents.

Charges, including the cost of swimming in council-run leisure centres,

would be frozen and major investment into affordable homes, roads and

campuses will take place if the plan was agreed by cabinet yesterday 16th February and Full Council on February 28.

If the plan goes ahead then Wiltshire's residents will have had one of

the lowest increases in council tax in the country over the last five

years.

Council leader Jane Scott said:

"Both the council tax freeze and the hold on the cost of some of our

charges will make it a little bit easier for local people who are

struggling financially. We are also planning to invest in services which

protect the most vulnerable in our communities. We are a radical,

forward-thinking council and we will never shy away from making

difficult decisions which will benefit Wiltshire's communities."
