Police Appeal: Serious road traffic collision at Semington

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision along the A361 at Semington. 

The incident happened last night (Tuesday, 5, March 2013) at around 7pm when a 37 year old motorcyclist lost control of his blue Yamaha 600cc motorcycle while travelling towards Devizes. 

The motorcyclist collided with a central refuge illuminated traffic bollard which caused him to come off the bike into the air and landing on the front of a passing black Saab 95 car also travelling towards Devizes. 

The 37 year old driver of the car suffered shock but was unhurt from the collision. 

The motorcyclist was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath where he was treated for serious injuries however not life threatening and remains in hospital pending surgery. 

The road was closed for around three hours following the collision by police while the scene was investigated. 

Wiltshire Police would like to speak to anyone who has yet to come forward and who may have witnessed the collision.
