A Melksham thug who was involved in an attack in Chicoland has walked free from court.
24-year-old Steven Robins and pal Julian Drew, 22, attacked the man on
Saturday September 11 last year. CCTV footage from inside Chicoland
showed both men punching on their victim. Drew kicked him a number of
times and then smashed him on the head with the bottle, which shattered
on impact. Aged 22, of Bowden Crescent, Melksham, he admitted grievous
bodily harm and has a number of previous convictions for violence.
After hearing that Robins is due to become a father in the summer a
Judge Euan Ambrose, at Swindon Crown Court, imposed a 12-month
sentence, suspended for two years. Robins pleaded guilty to affray as it
appeared he did not cause any of the the victim’s injuries, although he
and Drew had been convicted together of affray in January 2009.
Robins
will be under supervision for that time, will have to attend an
aggression replacement treatment programme and will have a curfew
between 7pm and 5am curfew for the next six months. He will be allowed
to attend the birth of his child even that takes place at night.
Julian Drew was jailed for 20 months as he was on bail for burglary at the time.
Comments
At a cost of mere thousands to the tax payer... So he gets essentially nothing because hes got a kid on the way, claearly hes the right sort of person to be bringing a child into the world. Need these sort of people off the streets 24/7 for good, not between certain hours!
