Melksham is on the news and Internet for the wrong reasons yet again!

Dozens of tipsy youngsters aged between 13 and 15 had arranged to meet through social networking sites and text messages in the pretty town of Melksham, Wilts.

Most had told their parents they were on a sleepover but had in fact gathered to watch a 13-year-old girl who had vowed to attack a rival with a knife.

Chief Constable Brian Moore, who was on patrol with colleagues from Wiltshire Police, came across the group by the town’s historic market place at 8.30pm.

They spent an hour-and-a-half shepherding the youths through residential streets and breaking up fights between them and a 14-year-old boy was arrested.

I'm not sure Sasha. It was on the news and obviously online last night but neither have said when it happened. I don't believe it was yesterday but maybe earlier in the week.

It’s so odd that there doesn’t seem to be any date on any of the reports! Still looking on Hootsuite to see if can track a date down.

Anyway how is stuff with you? What do you think about the council cuts? Seems some people are not altogether unhappy about them!!

This happened on Friday night, in myopinion at least we wouldnt of heard anything about this at all if it wasnt for the Cheif being out - the police deal with similar all the time, he just doesnt usually see it. Having spent alot of time in town at night and odd hours theres always gangs of rowdy kids floating about, with the belief that nobody can touch them - A change in the law so they can be 'paint bombed' would work, turning up home covered in marking paint would get a vast majority in serious grief with the parents, and im guessing that the less desirable parents would kick up a fuss and complain to the police at which point they can be fined for their kids actions...

I was telling my step-daughter (aged 18) about all this and she agrees with you Paul that if the Chief Constable had not been around on duty, nobody would have ever heard about this incident!
