Hi Phil
Thanks for joining up! You asked on Twitter if there was anything that Party in the Park could take from the Wiltshire Country Fair to use? If you are trying to keep Party in the Park as a real local affair, then I don‘t think so; there weren’t many local producers or stalls at Bowood, were there?
Did anyone else go and felt disappointed about the lack of local input at Bowood?
Thanks Sasha, yes that was very much my impression of the s-called Wiltshire Game and Country Show at Bowood as well - not very much Wiltshire on display! In fact the only local stall I could find was the "Wiltshire Gun & Rod" shop. No rods, but plenty of guns. Having said that, it was a brilliant event with plenty of interesting things to see and do. I was especially taken by the glass blowing demonstration, and particularly impressed at how well organised it all was.
My point about the Party in the Park is basically that we're always looking to keep it fresh and interesting, with new things every year, so anything that people see at other events which they particularly like then it's always good to hear about them. One idea I had at Bowood was maybe inviting the company who had "Water Balls" there, basically huge plastic balls floating on a shallow pond which children rolled around inside (the ball, not the water!). It looked fun and fairly easy to set up, just requiring a bit of space and a water supply.

I saw the water balls, they have been there for a couple of years, so yes, a great idea. And what about the pottery throwing? That keeps kids fascinated and obviously is less dangerous than having glass blowing around.
I’ll see if I can find out who did that!
Sasha
