A gorgeous setting for a lovely venue, The Pear Tree does simply superb food that will please even the fussiest of eaters. They do a lot of very traditional English food including lots of red meat which is high quality and cooked well and delicately flavoured so you can taste the meat itself. A thoughtful wine list and plenty of other options for those who aren't drinking. The prices are very reasonable considering the standard of food and the quality of service from such charming, well presented staff. Very impressive.

Ive been out and about a bit this week; my friend Jenny and I went to the Pear Tree for lunch on Friday and it was a real treat! Theyre doing a well-priced lunch two courses for £12.50 or three for £15.50. Starter options included cauliflower soup, parmesan crusted sardines and chicken and truffle mousse; the mousse was accompanied by minty salad, the sardines rocket and a gentle lime dressing. For mains, we both chose whiting with noodles, peppers and prawn salad, nicely flavoured with chilli and served piled in a little mountain on the plate excellent! As it was Friday we shared a chocolate brownie with homemade vanilla ice cream and staggered off feeling very happy and very full! The only drawback is the price of the wine a massive £7.70 for a large glass of Sauvignon next time well have the bottle!
I have to agree with you all, The Pear Tree Inn is probably one of Melksham's best pubs to eat, drink and relax!

ReportServing fabulous food in rustic surroundings all year around, the Pear Tree also has a few rooms. The food is modern British and uses local produce wherever possible. Dogs can sit outside in the summer with their owners. For really hot days, theres lots of shady areas too. A favourite.

ReportThis place was a real find for me. A fanatastic three course dinner included a stunning gressingham duck, high-quality english cheese board and a decent ham-terrine. Topped off with a really good pinot noir.
the thing that really makes this such a great restuarant for dinner is the bubbly ambience in the main dining room which is well-presented but also cosy. This place is a must for all locals of Melksham or Chippenham looking for a good restaurant or gastro-pub experience.
I actually stayed the night in one of the guest rooms above the restaurant. For a B&B, or even a full service hotel, it was excellent - very comfy beds, a beautiful shower and amazingly a bang and olusfen sound system. And all for £70. I wondered if they had missed a '1' from the bill!
Will definitely return!

Nestled amongst the rolling Wiltshire hills and bordered by a beautiful garden, this is one of the hidden jewels in the area. On a special occasion for a memorable meal, pleasant setting and a warm atmosphere, the Pear Tree Inn comes to mind. Recently I took my father out for his forty-ninth birthday and we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch with friendly service and tasty food. The dishes were focused on quality rather than quantity and the presentation was stunning. I am not a fan of dessert but this time it was my favourite part of the Pear Tree experience: a coconut cr£ br£l£with dark chocolate ice cream. I will be going again soon.
